Created during a weekend intensive brush lettering workshop at New Bohemia Signs, the longest running sign shop in San Francisco, this piece marries traditional sign painting techniques with contemporary cultural symbolism. The design features classically-styled casual and gothic lettering with 'all are' in a crisp creamy white against a rich brown background, while 'welcome' unfolds in a gradient of pride flag colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink – including the transgender pride flag colors). The brown background intentionally references the Progress Pride flag, creating a deeper layer of meaning around inclusion and intersectionality. Every element — from concept to final execution — was hand-crafted by myself using traditional sign painting tools and methods.
