Letterpress Coasters
Overview
Printed logo coasters live at Letterform Archive’s 10th anniversary celebration, Letterform Live, using a tabletop press with Grendl Löfkvist.
Context
As part of Letterform Live, the 10th anniversary celebration of Letterform Archive, I assisted Grendl Löfkvist to produce letterpress-printed logo coasters with guests. Working on a small tabletop press, we printed live throughout the event, transforming a traditional printmaking process into a public, participatory experience.
Detail
Each coaster was inked and pressed by hand, embracing the variability inherent in letterpress—subtle shifts in pressure, ink distribution, and alignment, so that no two prints were exactly the same. The project highlights letterpress as both a historical craft and a social practice, where the act of printing becomes a shared moment between maker, material, and audience.
